Jonathan Philip ‘Jon’ Hyde. 1980-2022. BGS 1987-1998.

Message from Jon's wife Rosie Hyde on 24 November 2022

With great sadness, I share the news that my wonderful and beloved husband Jon Hyde died peacefully in Trinity Hospice, Clapham, on 14th November 2022 aged 42. Jon is the cherished son of Nick & Jacque Hyde, adored Daddy of Zachary & Sammy, and much loved son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, godfather, friend and colleague.

Jon died from bowel cancer which was diagnosed unexpectedly in December 2021 following a hospital admission via A&E. Jon and I are immensely grateful for the care and treatment we received at St. George's Hospital.

Jon and I met 18ish years ago through the Lawyers' Christian Fellowship and our shared faith in Jesus has been the bedrock of our marriage. Our Christian faith and trust in a loving God brought us huge comfort and hope in the last year of Jon's life and all the more so now on his death.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
