Robert 'Bob' White. Died 2023. BGS 1968.
Obituary written by a friend.
Robert was preceded at the school by his brother Edward and followed by his brother Richard. He studied sciences in the 6th form. He was also a keen Rugby and Golf player whilst at school.
He went to Sussex University to study Biochemistry and it was there he met his future wife, Sue.
After he graduated, he decided to become a chartered accountant. He worked for Price Waterhouse and subsequently Arthur Anderson with his brother Edward, working as an expert on oil taxation.
In the early 1980s he set up his own company advising oil companies on their taxation and developed a software programme to help them calculate their petroleum revenue tax.
In 2000 he suffered a stroke and was fitted with a pacemaker, he then retired from full time work but continued to contribute to society by chairing Land Valuation Tribunal appeals.
He became a Friend of Brogdale, where the National Fruit tree collection is held, later helping to organise a campaign to keep it at its present site in Faversham, Kent.
He died in February 2023 from fibrosis of the lung.
