Steve Bennett-Britton. 1945 - 2025. BGS 1952 - 1963.
The following was written by Steve's younger brother Nick, who attended BGS alongside his brother for 11 years, three years behind him.
Dr. Stephen Bennett Britton (BGS: 1952 - 1963] Born 8th December 1945 - died 28th February 2025.
Steve attended both the Lower and Upper Schools of Bristol Grammar School, mainly studying the sciences. He went on to study General Science at Peterhouse, Cambridge and then Medicine at Westminster Hospital, London. He worked as a hospital doctor in Bristol, Taunton, Nottingham, Great Ormond Street and three years in Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children. He was then appointed as a Consultant Paediatrician based at Good Hope Hospital, Sutton Coldfield.
He enjoyed all the arts, including opera, ballet, classical music concerts and art exhibitions. Steve was also a keen bridge player with his wife Jill, an enthusiastic allotment gardener and a skilled cook at home.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Jill, their three sons, Tom, Philip and Chris and his brother Nick.
