Well done to the nine BGS Sixth Form students (six of whom are pictured above) who have been offered places at Oxbridge this year, continuing BGS’s record of Oxbridge success. These offers represent a brilliant achievement for each of them and are the result of their hard work as well as testament to their academic abilities. We congratulate them all on successfully navigating the challenging and competitive selection process.
The courses they have been offered places on cover a broad spectrum – Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics and Medicine, as well as PPE, History, History & Politics, and English – reflecting the diversity of interests and disciplines our Sixth Formers choose to pursue after BGS. Several of these courses are among the most sought-after by Oxbridge applicants, meaning competition for places was particularly strong and their success all the more impressive.
With an ever-increasing number of applicants for each Oxbridge place, inevitably some highly capable candidates missed out. We hope that, despite the disappointment, they are pleased that they followed their ambitions and that they gained something positive from the application experience. We are certainly proud of their efforts.
Those who missed out are now, like many of their Upper Sixth peers, receiving offers from a range of other top universities. As offers continue to come in, we look forward to celebrating with more of our Sixth Form students as their plans for life after BGS take shape.
Head of Higher Education and Careers at BGS, David Ruck, said:
“The range of destinations our students move on to continues to be greatly varied – with university overseas and degree apprenticeships continuing to gain in popularity – as are the subjects and courses they choose to follow. Our role is to ensure that, whatever their aspirations, all of our Sixth Form students have access to expert advice and guidance to help them find the right path for them beyond BGS.”
